Steven Hampson, of Dovercourt Caravan Park, got in touch with AB Sundecks to say he had donated a caravan to the local primary school, Spring Meadow, who were looking for some support to help nurture their young pupils with a new initiative they had planned. The caravan would be used as nurture room, designed to be a place were young people could have a quiet space to work in small group sessions or just somewhere calm to be to manage their feelings. Mr Hampson was looking to buy a AB Sundeck kit to install at the school to make the access to the project much safer and easier for the children and staff. When we realised what this project was about and how much it would mean to the school we offered to send a team to install the deck free of charge. The installation, led by Brian Beaumont, took a few days over the half term break to erect ready for the children's return to school. They were so pleased with the result that they wrote this lovely letter;
"On behalf of the Head Teacher, staff and fellow governors I would like to thank you and your staff for your hard work and commitment to installing the veranda for our nurture room during half term. Two of your staff got up very early to ensure this happened. We are aware and appreciate you also did this free of charge.
During the last four years our school has grown by 50%. We have a significant number of children from troubled backgrounds or/and have some special needs. We are committed to trying to help these children remain in mainstream school. Sometimes they need a quiet space where they can work either one on one or in small groups with skilled staff, an opportunity to be calm and look at different ways of managing feelings. The veranda makes this room easier to access and is a valuable space, especially in warmer weather. Some children feel more relaxed being outside and find it easier to work there.
I would like to reiterate our thanks for your significant contribution to this project."
