We always approach a timber take down with lots to consider. 1. That this would have been magnificent in its heyday and somebody’s pride and joy, so be respectful. 2. Ensure that its removal is safe for the teams to work with due to decay and rot, so be careful. 3. Replace it with something that will wow the customer for many years, so be confident.

Timber is always a tricky subject for us because we are so passionate about the sustainability of our products that we can’t comprehend why consumers still choose timber for their decking projects. Freedom of choice is clearly important and sometimes people just like what they like and that is the end but it doesn’t stop us from questioning why.

This installation on Whitecross Bay in the Lake District involved removing a timber deck and replacing it with something similar but from AB Sundecks. This meant a full steel and PVC erection to suit the lodge and the surrounding area. We think we achieved that very successfully and within a very efficient time frame.

The team took four days to carefully remove the existing product ensuing no damage to the dwelling and replaced it with a bespoke AB Sundeck in complementing colours. The Golden Oak posts, rails and skirting perfectly match with the lodge’s accents and the Yellowstone deck boards add light to the area whilst tying together the surrounding woodland colours. A masterpiece!
