One amazing and stand out feature of an AB Sundeck is the fire resistant properties. The galavanised steel sub frame and PVC deck board are both highly rated for this quality.
PVC's fire-resistant properties include:
• Slow to ignite: Rigid PVC requires a temperature of over 150°C higher than wood to ignite.
• Self-extinguishing: PVC will typically extinguish itself when the flame source is removed.
• Limited flame spread: PVC chars when burned and is resistant to spreading flames.
• Releases less heat: PVC releases less combustion heat than other plastics.
• Produces little debris: PVC produces few flaming droplets or debris.
• Produces hydrogen chloride gas: When burned, PVC produces hydrogen chloride gas, which slows down combustion, prevents oxygen from reaching the PVC, and forms a thermal barrier.
The galvanized steel heats up at a slower rate than an equivalent non-galvanized section. The lower temperature rise will lead to increased fire resistance for fire exposure periods of upto 30 minutes.
This feature sets AB Sundecks Decking apart from its timber counterpart and makes it a very popoular choice for holiday homes and gardens across the world.
Building without timber means that you don’t need to worry about the risk of spreading fire and in addition with AB Sundecks there is no need for painting, staining or repairing any damage from decay and rot. We use steel as a build base and all of our deckboards are free from any composite wood fibres.
Our team are always on hand to answer any questions so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
