On a scorching Sunday afternoon in Lancashire the Leigh Miners Ladies revealed their new season playing kit as they played host to Yorkshire side, Brighouse Rangers. The investment from AB Sundecks gave the Leigh Ladies a boost of confidence with a brand new kit going into the first round of the Challenge Cup competition.
Leigh Miners Ladies are a well-established side and have been building momentum for the last few years. Today, kitted out in bright yellow and black emblazoned with the AB Sundecks brand, they proved they are very much a side to be reckoned with powering through the opposition to a 58-0 victory.
AB Sundecks are noted for pumping their hard earned profits into the towns professional rugby league side, Leigh Centurions, for the love of the club and what it has come to represent in the town and although they have a massive fondness for the club and its success they also have a genuine passion and love for the sport and the local area as a whole. They have sponsored a number of amateur and professional sides over the years and Leigh Miners ladies were the next obvious choice.
Laura Beaumont, Director at AB Sundecks, said, “It’s taken a while but I have finally convinced the powers that be that women’s rugby is just as deserving, if not more, of our financial support. I have watched the girls season after season come from a side struggling to recruit players to a flourishing team with more heart and passion than any I have seen.
Rugby League lacks coverage and support, which amazes me as this is a sport with huge family values at its core and aside from the excitement and exhilaration it provides on the field it represents a sense of community and comradery off field too. I defy anyone to watch a game of rugby league and not thoroughly enjoy it and then go on to share a laugh and joke with the opposition fans in the post-match proceedings.
Leigh Miners Ladies are thoroughly deserving of our support; not only do they love rugby so passionately, but they give up their precious time to drive the sport forward, not only for the ladies but the for the men and the children too. Their sacrifices for the game are far and above that of anyone I know and it’s all for the love of the game.
Leigh Miners ladies also provide a safe and supportive training environment for girls as young as 10 years old. They are not only bringing the game of rugby league to school age girls but providing them with a support network and a place to make new friends in a safe environment whilst learning new skills and preparing them for the leap into young adult life.”
AB Sundecks, specialists in the field of holiday home and garden decking, have also provided a brand new balcony area at the Leigh Miners Welfare Club as they push forward into making their community club and better place for everyone to enjoy.
